Apply for Media School student communications team openings

Are you an aspiring reporter, writer or photographer who wants to build your experience level and your portfolio? Join the school’s student communications team and be on the inside track of school events and activities while producing content for the school. (Check out the school’s news page and YouTube channel to see examples of the team’s past work.)

Pay is $10.15 per hour, and hours vary widely depending on assignments. All applicants must have previous experience in the areas in which they apply, and they must submit links to online portfolios or other published/posted work.

Photographer

Summer and/or fall 2018

Capture images ranging from dynamic news photos to professional portraits.

Qualifications

Successful completion of advanced photography courses (with instructor references) or campus media experience or internships.

Must be a student enrolled in The Media School.

Hours

Hours vary widely based on need and the photographer’s availability for assignments. Most photographers average three to five hours per week.

Writer/content specialist

Summer and/or fall 2018

Develop ideas for website content, gather information, write stories and report on people and events at the school.

Qualifications

Must have reporting experience in journalism production classes such as 812 The Magazine or Words and Pictures; experience working for campus media such as the Indiana Daily Student, Arbutus or Inside magazine; or an internship where you used these skills.

Must be a student enrolled in The Media School.

Hours

Hours vary widely based on need and the writer’s availability for assignments. Most content specialists average five to 10 hours per week.
