Alyssa Stecyna

What’s your name? Where are you from? What year are you? What are you studying? Oh really, what are you going to do with that? My name is Alyssa Stecyna; I am from a small suburb southwest of Chicago called Lemont; I am a Junior here at Indiana University; I am studying Media Management, Industry, and Policy and specializing in Creative Industries; what am I going to do with that, you ask, I have no idea so please stop asking. While this is my first official photography class, I believe that years of taking pictures at concerts have prepared me quite well for this (totally kidding). When I’m not running around campus trying to successfully be a full-time student, leading in one of the campus ministries, or working at one of the local animal shelters, you can find me at home, in my kitchen, cooking or baking. I cannot, however, work in my kitchen if I do not have music blaring throughout the house. My favorite band is Marianas Trench -you probably haven’t heard of them. That’s because you don’t hear good bands on the radio. I do hope to take what I learn in this class and perfect it to carry with me through the rest of my life, both as a professional and as a person.

Building a Little 500 team from the ground up is not easy.  The on-campus Christian ministry, Chi Alpha (XA), is one of the few teams in the process of building a team from the ground up. This is a team made up of rookies, they literally started with nothing but a few people who liked to ride bikes.  The team has until the third weekend in April to get into race-shape.

From 0 to 500 in Just One Year

The World’s Greatest College Weekend might just be one weekend for the 25,000 fans.  But for the riders it’s the World’s Longest College Year.  And for the rookie teams, it’s even longer.
