Tourist pass through Nashville, Indiana throughout the fall months every year. They visit apple orchards, pumpkin patches, hiking trails and Schooner Valley Stables. For just $35 a person anyone, any age can saddle up and experience back wood trails guided by professional horse riders. What most of these customers don’t know is while they are riding for pleasure, the employees are riding for the chance for a new start.
I followed Tori Drake who is a close friend and current student at Indiana University. She is a former Indiana University varsity rower and event planning management student. However, what most people don’t know is why Tori decided to work at Schooners. After two years of competing for a spot on the IU rowing team Tori decided to take a break and focus on her school. She would go one to complete her sophomore year and take junior year as a fresh start to refocus and find a new normal without her sport. This new normal never came.
