One Day in April Scholarship Application

  • Award: $1,000

  • Who's Eligible: Undergraduate students pursuing a degree from The Media School

  • Deadline: 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017

  • Thomas Miller, BAJ’12, is the producer of One Day in April, a feature-length documentary about Little 500. Miller and his film team members, Peter Stevenson, Kirsten Powell and Ryan Black, captured the majority of the footage during the 2013 season. The film debuted at the Cinequest film festival in February 2015 and locally at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in Bloomington in April 2015. Miller is using proceeds from these screenings to fund an award to support students in The Media School who aspire to become filmmakers.

  • The purpose of this one-time award is to provide capital for student film projects, including renting cameras and equipment, and other production costs. The winner is expected to share a link to his or her project by April 15, 2018.

  • Undergraduate students pursuing a degree from The Media School at Indiana University are eligible to apply. Please complete the following application, which requires a description of your project and detailed budget, by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1.

  • Finalists will be invited to participate in interviews with a selection committee in late October, and the winner will be announced by Oct. 27.
