2018 Kern Scholarship Proposals

  • Call for Proposals: Kern Scholarship for Innovation in Journalism
  • The Media School is seeking proposals for the Kern Scholarship for Innovation in Journalism awards. Graduate students may submit proposals for projects that will encourage research and experimentation in new journalistic concepts, content and techniques. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000.

A faculty selection committee will give special consideration to proposals that focus on 1) enhancing public affairs journalism, including politics, public policy or investigative journalism and 2) exploring new revenue models for the journalism field.

Applicants are expected to submit one-page proposals describing their projects. Recipients are expected to present their work during M600: Media Arts & Sciences Colloquium in late spring 2019.

Deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018. Recipients will be notified by Nov. 15.
